Increased Breadth of Interconnect Technology

Aero Actuation System

Mounted within the wing and its restrictive spars this ‘fly by wire’ application is tight on space. PCBs had to load into the black box in sequence and to achieve this, several novel techniques were used:

  • The header technique enables cables to be an integral part of the pcb during the final flow solder process. This enables the wiring to sit on a convenient part of the board and occupy a minimum footprint.
  • The other end of the wiring loom is terminated to a 2 part high density, high reliability connector system with specialised hoods that include the following features – multifarious cable exits, extended pin protection to reduce male pin damage, Specialised locking methods, Tyrap fixing holes.
  • 90º high power crimps were developed to fit into spaces where standard crimps will not fit.
