BAE Systems has approved Tekdata Interconnect Systems as subcontractor for electrical manufacture and test of aircraft loom assemblies for the Eurofighter Typhoon.
The approval, which follows a detailed audit of Tekdata's quality management system, is valid from December 2006, opening the possibility of Tekdata supporting Eurofighter for the next 30 years. Throughout, BAE Systems will make periodic assessments to validate continuing compliance to approval standards.

| Complex design and prototype project for offshore manufacturing completed successfully |
 |
|
Tekdata has successfully completed the design and prototyping of a high-integrity interconnect assembly for Fluke Precision Measurement.
Fluke came to Tekdata making it clear from the beginning of the project that full production would take place outside the United Kingdom. On a similar previous project, Tekdata had used a twin grommet to land the screening directly onto the hand-held metal casing while providing maximum flexibility for two different cables.
For this application, Fluke maintained the requirements of the cable strain relief while simplifying the overall assembly and servicing aspects. Both cables were colour matched with an overall matching overjacket to simplify handling and maintain product unity within the corporate generic styling.

Fifteen Tekdata employees are improving their IT skills thanks to a link up with Newcastle-under-Lyme College. The 'Start IT' course includes business communication skills using =91Word=92 and presentation skills aided by =91Powerpoint=92. The use of Excel in a business environment is also part of the curriculum.
The training is funded by the European Social Fund through the Skills for Life and Work project for small to medium-sized businesses. The project began in May 2006 and the group was such a success that the training is now delivered to two large groups of Tekdata employees, across a range of disciplines.
