RoHS implementation: Tekdata is a front-runner!

A European directive to reduce the environmental impact of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) by imposing further Restrictions on the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (RoHS) will be implemented on 1 July.

Tekdata is fully committed to reducing the use of lead, mercury and other substances as per the RoHS. We have identified all plastics and solders currently used, and our suppliers have been asked to recommend alternatives.

We have tested and are introducing lead-free solders. Tekdata has a target of becoming 90%+ compliant by the end April (some industries, such as aerospace and defence, are excluded from this directive).
