Clutch plates and dinner dates
When your driver offers to cook you dinner while you work into the night, you know you are in for a late one.
That's what happened to the Beacon Racing mechanics at Knockhill this weekend after Mickey Doyle's No. 55 car did not finish Race 18 in the Ginetta GT Supercup, due to clutch failure. As Race 19 was the first race on Sunday morning the car simply had to be fixed overnight; and the Staffordshire University students which form the basis of the Beacon Racing team earned their stripes whilst tucking into a Doyle Special!
After serving up dinner on Saturday night, Mickey served up a respectable 5th and 6th in class on Sunday for Races 19 and 20 with a repaired car - thankfully keeping the car in one piece!
The next race in the series is at Rockingham on 17th and 18th September where Mickey is hoping to improve his consistency and contest for a podium finish!
